Second semester project for Decision Systems 2021/2022 Course

This is the second project for students enrolled in the Decision System 2021/2022 course at the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics, and Mechanics at the University of Warsaw.

Overview

Your task is to construct a model for predicting sales of products offered by the FitFood company at their FitBoxy locations in Poland, during the COVID-19 pandemic period.

More detailed competition rules are given in Terms and Conditions.

The description of the data and evaluation metric is in the Task description section. 

The submission system will open on Monday, December 20.

Provided data sets describe a short-term sales history of products at various points of sales (PoS). The target attribute target_sales indicates the number of sold products of a given type in the following 7 day period. The split into the training and test cases is such that the training data corresponds to the period between 2019-01-01 and 2020-07-01 (pre-pandemic and the first lock-down). The test data set covers the one year of pandemic after the training period.

The data tables are provided as two CSV files with the coma ',' separator sign. They can be downloaded after the enrollment for the challenge. Both files (training and test sets) have exactly the same format but all the values from the target_sales column in the test set are missing.

The evaluation metric will be MAE. During the challenge, your solutions will be evaluated on a small fraction of the test set, and your best preliminary MAE score will be displayed on the public Leaderboard. 

The submission format: the solutions need to be submitted as text files with predictions. The file should have exactly the same number of rows as the test data table (not counting the header, which should be omitted). In each row, it should contain exactly one number expressing the predicted sales.
